USA based company that manufactures or sells guitars, basses, related string instruments, accessories and amplification under the Gibson, Epiphone, Maestro, Steinberger, Kramer, Dobro, Valley Arts, Echoplex, Electar and Tobias, in the past they have also used names such as Kalamazoo, Flatiron and Orville, pianos and other keyboard instruments under the Baldwin name but until recently also sold them under the Chickering, Aeolian, Hamilton, J & C Fischer, Sunshine Piano, Oberheim and Howard labels, drums under the Slingerland brand, jukeboxes & music vending products under the Wurlitzer name but for a time they also used that name on pianos.
They have also used other brands in the past such as Magic that was used on audio routing products. They also own Dongbei Piano factory and thus the rights to the Dongbei, Prince, Princess and Nordiska brand names in most of the world and may in fact be using some of them in Asia where they are better known than Baldwin, that factory also makes pianos for a number of primarily USA based companies as an OEM. The company is highly controversial for its confrontational managment style and has been voted the "worst place to work" in the USA recently, they have also been involved in a number of other controvercies over the years, when Gibson bought Opcode Systems they refused to hounour the warranties of any Opcode products sold before the takeover for instance. -- Official homepage.
