HiWave Technologies
British company with manufacturing factilities in Asia that makes and licenses loudspeaker drivers, flat panel transducers, digital amplifier modules and haptic transducers. The company is the inventor of the flat panel loudspeaker technology that was usually referred to as NXT.

Company was originally created in 1992 with the merger of Wharfedale Loudspeakers PLC and Mission Electronics into a new company called Verity Group PLC., aquired Premier Percussion in 1994 and Quad Electroacoustics in 1995 but in 1997 disposed of Wharfedale and Quad to International Audio Group in addition to selling Premier to an unknown investor. Changed its name to NXT in 1998 and established the electronic manufacturing part of the old Mission company into an independent company called Cyrus later that same year, the loudspeaker manufacturing part of Mission was sold to its management in 2000 who established a new company called Symphonix, NXT however retained the ownership of the Mission brand until 2005 when they actually sold it to International Audio Group. From 1998 to 2010 they were primarily an IP company but rather than actually selling a product they licensed patents and designs to third party vendors that turn them into products, but in 2010 they decided this was not profitable enough and decided instead to focus on selling the technologies as products rather than IP.

Intersil
Long running USA based maker of integrated circuits. Currently makes amongst other products high speed op-amp's and buffers alongside specialised DSP chips and sundry analogue amplifier chips. Intersil did in the early to mid 90's develop one of the first functional PWM digital amplifier chipsets that they marketed under the "Cool Audio" brand, although these generated a lot of interest they did not sell well and in the late 90's the technology and the trademark was sold to Behringer that later spun it off into a new company called Coolaudio.

The recent revival of interest in digital power amplifiers has spurned the company to re-enter the market using the D2Audio brand, these include some interesting devices such as the DAE-6 that includes digital amplification, I/O support and DSP processing on one chip, effectively a home theatre amplifier on-a-chip.
